Professional Information

Dr. Carena Winters is an expert in the areas of movement as a medicine, exercise physiology, and exercise epidemiology. She has over 20 years™ experience leading health promotion planning and implementation in university and community settings in addition to providing individualized programming. Dr. Winters has a passion for helping people of all abilities create a culture of daily movement for lifetime well-being. 

Dr. Winters launched the Global  initiative in May 2009 with Dr. Robert E. Sallis and the  and is a member of the Global EIM Advisory Board. In 2019, she was presented with the Exercise is Medicine Global Leadership Award. Dr. Winters is an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP) with the EIM credential. Her passion is sharing her knowledge of exercise physiology, epidemiology, and the Exercise is Medicine® initiative in the classroom and the community.
